Transit Marketing, Independent Marketing Consultant (1988- present)
Works exclusively within the transportation industry. Provides marketing consultation, market research and creative services to transit agencies, transportation departments of cities, counties and states and metropolitan planning organizations. Has worked for more than four dozen transportation agencies during the past twelve years. Services include marketing plan development, market research coordination and analysis, development of marketing programs and materials. Certified WBE.
Transit Marketing Instructor/Trainer
Teaches a one day course in Transit Marketing for the Community Transportation Association of America. Has also conducted workshops and training programs for University of the Pacific, Arizona Department of Transportation, Oregon Department of Transportation, CalAct, AzTA, CTA, and transit associations in Maryland, New Mexico, West Virginia, Kentucky and others.
Marketing Specialist, Bratt Advertising, Tucson, AZ (1987-88)
Developed marketing plans and proposals and coordinated market research for a variety of agency clients. Bratt Advertising has handled advertising, promotions and special projects for a number of transportation related clients.
Chief of Marketing, Metro-Dade Transit Agency, Miami, FL (1985-87)
Headed a comprehensive marketing division which included advertising, promotion, public affairs, community services and passenger information branches. Responsible for all marketing activities for a tri-modal transit system (rail, bus and people-mover). Key accomplishments included:
Successful introduction of Miami’s Downtown Metromover.
Complete revamping of MetroDade Transit’s passenger information program in conjunction with a system wide service redesign.
Development of a comprehensive marketing plan to guide what had previously been a fragmented communications effort.
Associate ATE Management & Service Company, Inc., Director of Marketing, Sun Tran, Tucson, AZ (1982-85)
Responsible for all aspects of marketing for a 150 bus system, including advertising, promotion, market research, media relations, community outreach and customer service/information. Involved in short range planning, development and implementation of new services and major capital projects. Major accomplishments included:
Generation within one year of 7% ridership increase after many years of stagnate usage.
Development and introduction of the University of Arizona Semester Pass Program which resulted in significant ridership growth and an on-going relationship between SunTran and the University.
Initiation of a variety of promotional programs, including The First Time Riders Kit and Go-Card Summer Youth Pass, which have since been replicated by systems throughout the US.
